New for 2021-2022, our programs are to align to the Speed Skating Canada Long Term Participant Athlete Development(LTPAD) program.
Active Start (1 Hour Per Week, Monday 6:00pm - 7:00pm Starting Sept 13, 2021, Senecal Arena)
- Skaters age starting at 6 y/o
- Skaters must have basic skating skills before they begin (we recommend CANSKATE)
- Skaters must be able to get back up on their skates without any assistance
- Focus is to learn the basics of speed skating
Fundamentals (2 Hours Per Week, Tuesday 7:00pm - 9:00pm, Starting Sept 7, 2020, Senecal Arena)
- Skaters have successfully met the “Active Start” skills and are working on improving in both technique and speed
Train to Train (3 Hours Per Week, Tuesday 7:00pm - 9:00pm and Wednesday 6:30pm - 7:30pm, Starting Sept 7, 2021, Senecal & Manley)
- Skaters have mastered the basics of speed skating and are improving both technique and speed
Train to Compete (4 Hours Per Week, Monday 7pm to 9pm, Wednesday 6:30pm - 8:30pm, Starting Sept 8, 2021, Senecal & Manley)
- Accomplished skaters as well as skaters who are competing at the provincial and national levels
- Interclub skaters at this level are welcome to attend Wednesday evenings for 2 additional hours of training
Active for Life (1.5 hours Per Week, Friday 6:30am - 8:00am, Starting Sept 17, 2021, Richcraft Sensplex)
- Skaters ranging in age from 20- 70+
- Includes skaters new to the sport of speed skating as well as skaters with years of experience
- Interclub masters are also welcome to join this program
Equipment
Speed Skates can be rented from the club. For 2021-2022, speed skate rentals for all new members to the club is FREE! For returning members, the price has been reduced from $160 to $100. Security and Damage deposit of $200 applies to all free and paid rentals.
Skaters will also require the following safety equipment to participate in programs:
- Neck guard with bib
- Cut-proof gloves
- Cut-proof ankle cuffs or socks
- Safety glasses (clear lenses)
- Shin guards
- Knee pads
- Skating helmet (no bicycle helmets please)
